Central Highlands and the Interior
The central highlands of Vietnam offers a unique travel experience to those looking to get away from the usual tourist venues. About 140 km from Dalat to the north, you will descend the mountains onto a series of plateaus. Altitude ranges from 500 – 1500 meters in and is approximately 300 km in length. It is home to 20 different ethnic minorities speaking 3 languages other than Vietnamese. The highest populations are the Ede, M’Nong, Bana, K’tu and Gia Rai.
Touring this area gives a person a real feeling about Vietnam and its peoples. only a small percentage of visitors have the opportunity to visit this beautiful and friendly area. Your travel will take you through rubber, cashew, and cassava plantations. You will witness the harvest of rice, cocoa, pepper, coffee, avocado and other foods in season. Along the journey, sample local pineapple, jack fruit, ramutan, banana, and many other fruits. Perhaps you would like to ride an elephant?
Perhaps the most treasured of your memories is at how open and friendly the people are. Children run behind fascinated at the rare glimpse of a foreigner and the waves and hellos are endless. Most travelers that visit this area will tell you it was the highlight of their Vietnam adventure and I have to agree. I never tire of the Central Highlands
