Mekong Homestay Farmstay
Mekong farm stay tour will take you to relatively untouched and tourist-free areas in the Ben Tre and Tra Vinh area. Ben Tre is well known as the coconut capital of Vietnam. Tra Vinh is an area settled long ago by Khmer people from Cambodia and their influence can be seen in the villages and pagodas. We will explore the daily life of the villagers by boat and bike and overnight in a local farmer’s house. You may also learn the local cooking styles by helping your host prepare your meals.
Day 1 Saigon – Ben Tre Homestay (Lunch, Dinner)
From Saigon we will drive into Mekong Delta to Ben Tre. We will cruise along the Ben Tre River seeing many local activities such as fishing and shrimp trapping. Witness the rural lifestyle with workers in rice paddies and the harvest of agricultural products (string bean, corn, bitter melon, cucumber, and other fruits and vegetables). Enjoy lunch at a peaceful and cool local restaurant.
After lunch, we will take rowing boats down the small canals before returning to our boat. We will then cruise on the Ham Luong River (a branch of the Mighty Mekong River), then visit a coconut floating market operated by local farmers and villagers. Now we continue following the Nuoc Trong River that leads to the Dinh Thuy Commune. We arrive in Mo Cay and check in our homestay. In the evening, you can enjoy the dancing fireflies blinking on the mangroves along the riverside. We can join in cooking dinner with the host-villagers and experience the local life in the countryside.

Day 2 Ben Tre – Tra Vinh – Cau Ke (Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner)
After breakfast, we enjoy the morning biking to the Dinh Thuy Market to witness the buying and selling activities of various local products. We depart Ben Tre and follow the provincial road, deeper into the Mekong Delta region to Tra Vinh, which is known as “the most populated Khmer ethnic city”. The drive takes us past photogenic villages with beautiful landscapes .
Our lunch will be arranged in Cau Ke town. Then we check in the Farmstayestay.
After relaxing, we take a walk or a bike through the villages to Ba Mi area. You will see how local farmers work on their rice paddies or how local gardeners do their gardening (growing vegetables or fruit trees). We will visit Ba Mi church and school (there is no schooling during summer vacation from May till September), and finish our day with a visit to a beautiful Khmer pagoda before returning to our farmstay.
Day 3 Cau Ke and surroundings – Sai Gon (Breakfast, Lunch)
After breakfast, walk or ride your bicycle through Khmer villages such Canh Dal, Tra Khao, Giong Lon to see how local people make their living or talk to the local elderly about the history of the village and wars taking place in the area.
